Broken House Records presents The Griot, the new album from MUSIATA, out Friday 13 November 2026.
The Griot is a sixteen-song record told in music and illustration. Each song is a chapter with its own story and its own illustrated panels, and all sixteen belong to one record. At its centre is the Griot: a keeper of the record who listens, remembers, observes and occasionally implicates himself. The album deals with belonging, classification and power, and with the distance between the official version and the lived one. Southern Africa, Manchester and St. Louis all leave their fingerprints on it.
Start with Famous Rivers, the focus track: chapter fifteen, a song about water, roots and the journeys that cross borders.
